New Dietary Guidelines for Americans [01-31-11]

Today the government issued your new dietary guidelines. The Dietary Guidelines for Americans has been published jointly every 5 years since 1980 by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Department of Agriculture (USDA). The Guidelines provide authoritative advice for people two years and older about how good dietary habits can promote health and reduce risk for major chronic diseases. They serve as the basis for Federal food and nutrition education programs.  Check out the Guidelines and see what’s new.  Bon Appetit!

Congress Passes the Medicare and Medicaid Extenders Act [12-11-10]

On December 9, 2011 the Senate passed the Medicare and Medicaid Extenders Act and early this afternoon the House passed it as well to address the Fee Schedule and the Therapy Caps. SENATE PASSES ONE MONTH PATCH FOR PHYSICIAN FEE SCHEDULE [11-19-10]

Late yesterday the Senate passed by unanimous consent a bill (The Physician Payment and Therapy Relief Act of 2010) to extend the existing 2.2 percent increase in the physician fee schedule through December 31, 2010. (more…)

The American Academy of Neurology Issues Concussion Guidelines [11-05-10]

This week the American Academy of Neurology recommended new guidelines for managing sports concussions. The new Position Statement on Sports Concussion, published in the journal Neurology, sets stricter oversight and management for athletes who play sports with a high likelihood of head injuries.  The recommendation include the following: (more…)
