On June 25, 2010, President Obama signed into law the “Preservation of Access to Care for Medicare Beneficiaries and Pension Relief Act of 2010.” This law establishes a 2.2 percent update to the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) payment rates retroactive from June 1 through November 30, 2010. House Passes Limited Extension of Physician Fee Schedule But Senate Recesses Before Acting on House Bill.  In order to avoid disruptions in service and payment, CMS, once again, has advised contractors to hold claims for Medicare reimbursement for 10 business days—until June 14th when they will have to start to process claims from June 1st. Scammers Out In Force on Health Care Reform [05-03-10]

On April 28, 2010 Ohio’s Attorney General’s office issued a press release indicating that over the past several weeks they have received an influx of complaints against scammers regarding Medicare and the changes in Health Care Reform.  (more…)

Congress “acts” to save their Cadillac Health Insurance [04-22-10]

You may have heard about a glitch in the new health law affecting members of Congress and some of their staff that looked as if it would push them out of cushy federal health coverage right away.  Under the law, members and their personal staff (although not committee or leadership staff) will have to give up coverage under the Federal Employee Health Benefits Plan, and move to the new state-based health exchanges when they get up and running in 2014.  At least that was the idea.
