Cystic Fibrosis Walk-a-Thon Success in Oceana [10-01-09]

😀 The rain may have stopped some of the people from showing up, but the donations poured in. On Saturday, September 26th, the therapy team from Marden’s Oceana clinic held a walk-a-thon to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The weather didn’t cooperate, but fortunately that didn’t stop the spirit of the event.  Spearheaded by Rick Hatfield, the Oceana team was able to raise $5,265.58 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  Mr. Mason was in attendance and kicked off the event with some opening remarks.

Hatfield, a native of Pineville WV, received a phone call from the Cystic Fibrosis foundation, and decided that a charity event would be a great way to give back to the community. “Despite the rainy day, I was well pleased with the turnout and the overwhelming support in donations. It was a lot of hard work pulling this all together, but in the end it was well worth it,” said Hatfield. “The local community really stepped up with donations of food, water, tents, and financial contributions to the cause,” continued Hatfield.

A special thanks to  all Marden employees and families who attended the event. It is spirit like this that truly warms the heart.
